”Through membership with MPI New England, I was able to make what started out as an idea with considerable pushback into a new nation-wide sales model for Banquet Sales Managers within my company. I would not have thought of taking that extra step if I wasn‘t exposed to all the wonderful members of the MPI New England Chapter.
My story starts out with becoming an interim Banquet Sales Manager at Maggiano‘s Little Italy in Boston in addition to my other title of Delivery Sales Coordinator. I was asked to attend a Greater Boston CVB function to network and push the Maggiano‘s brand forward. At this event, I met Donna Lubrano, Corporate Training Sales Manager at the Improv Asylum, who invited Maggiano‘s to showcase our food at an upcoming function she was planning. The function happened to be an MPI/NE event. We jumped on board and added to the success of the program. Soon after I decided to became a member of MPI and become involved in the New England Chapter.
Through the contacts I met in the chapter I was able to find event spaces that required outside catering. My original goal was to get Maggiano‘s on their lists of preferred caterers. While doing this I thought, why not take the banquet turndowns from the restaurant and book event space for them elsewhere. This would allow me to support the venues while capturing additional catering sales for the restaurant and still provide the clients with excellent food from Maggiano‘s. By doing this, I was able to produce an additional $15,000 in sales for May and June. Thank you MPI/NE for making this idea a reality!“

I highly recommend the MPINE Job Board to anyone in New England looking to hire someone in the Meeting and Events industry."
