How to Become A CMP

1. Visit the Convention Industry Council website www.conventionindustry.org or
2. Order the CMP Candidate Handbook for $45 US + s/h.
3. Complete the CMP Application and return it to the CIC office by the application deadline, and include the $175 US submission fee. The $175 US submission fee is a nonrefundable fee.
4. Following notification of successful application, CMP candidates may register for the CMP examination by returning a completed registration form and $375 US fee for the North American examination or $450 US for the International examination to the CIC office before the examination registration deadline.
5. Successfully complete the CMP Examination.

The winter exams are given in Boston. A Boston location can be added if there are enough eligible candidates that REQUEST it on their Exam Registration form.

CMP Recertification
The CMP Recertification Application Form is available to download from the CIC Website.
Complete the form and send it to CIC with the $200 USD fee no later than October 15 of the year in which the CMP certification expires.

Per a recent decision by the CMP Board of Directors, expired CMPs will be required to successfully pass the written examination to regain legal use of their designation in the future. CMPs who do not recertify will lose their designation!

CMPs with valid addresses with CIC will receive reminder notices in the year in which they are due to recertify. CMPs may update their address information and review their certification information on the CIC Website. To view or make changes to your information: access the following link www.conventionindustry.org/cmp/cmp_directories.htm, choose CIC Address-Record Update from the list of available options, input your CIC ID # and password and proceed with your update.
